Do not for one minute believe anything you read about caring kind understanding or compassionate. My son has been a patient of Dr Fulford for almost 3 years. Missed or forgot one appointment and had to call and reschedule in plenty of advance one or 2 I get to the office for my sons 3 month appointment and they claim I cancelled! I DID NOT cancel. I still had the voicemail that confirmed the appointment and there was no option for me to cancel even if I wanted to do so. I would have had to call in and cancel. I DID NOT cancel. My son is on a lot of meds and gets aggressive and suicidal if he is off of them. We are diligent in his therapy and medicine and appointments.These people told me to carry him to a hospital to get his meds when they messed up the appointment. After 30 minutes of me raising my voice loudly and they threatened to call the police. I was not carrying my son to a hospital when they messed up his appointment and refused to give me a prescription for enough meds to get to the appointment they had to reschedule. FINALLY after 30 minutes of being told I had two option hospital or reschedule and me yelling that he was out of meds one of the ladies in the front office walked the 20 ft to Dr Fulford office who I knew had no patient because the last one had just left and no one else had come in. There was no one in the lobby at all and no patients.He agreed to getting me his med to get by to the next appointment. Mind you I was very upset if I had gone to a hospital requesting these meds they would have put my son in the mental hospital because of an administrative mistake not mine and kept him for a minimum of 10 days and possibly tried to change his meds.I was definitely being loud but never cussed or threatened any one in any way just demanded they help me get his meds. I show today for the appointment they rescheduled and the police are there and give me a lecture. I was told to find somewhere else to take my son after 3 years of going to Dr Fulford. The office staff is in no way understanding or compassionate. I was fighting to keep my son on his meds and they were sending him to be locked up when I made the appointment and showed up. Dr Fulford did a great job with our son but I saw no compassion or understanding from him or the front office in them forcing me to go to hospital when they made the mistake. Great big sign says 60.00 if you miss but nothing for me but termination of treatment when they mess up. Why would I drive 25 miles 50 mile round trip to an appointment I cancelled. No compassion or caring or understanding ever shown to me in the 3 years from the front office. They never took the responsibly for this mistake they made and a family struggling from one day to the next is blamed. The office in Wilson should be closed due to the rude and non caring front staff. They or the Raleigh office somehow cancelled the appointment and wanted me to put my son in a hospital. I was livid and we still have to start over with a new Psychiatrist because they messed up. They don't care about me my son or my family and the struggles we face everyday. They make a mistake and we get the blame because I was not sending him to a hospital. That is not caring or compassion. It is money they have all the patience they need so why put up with an upset mom.
I was sick Sunday and my appointment was Monday. My illness carried onto Monday and I know I needed to cancel.Usually when i leave a voicemail no one gives me a call back so I waited until right when they opened Monday morning to cancel my appointment. I did just that. Today I get a letter saying I missed my appointment and I owe $60. If your front staff has no compassion I will go somewhere else more competent.
No one ever answers the phone at the Wilson office, nor return phone calls or online messages at a reasonable time. Sometimes it takes several calls to get any responses. This makes for a delay in prescriptions/patient care. Also, the staff aren't all that friendly and personable.
